A rare albino buffalo raised near Dhaka has become an unlikely internet sensation in Bangladesh ahead of Eid al-Adha, after social media users noticed that its tuft of hair resembled the signature hairstyle of US President Donald Trump.
The four-year-old buffalo, raised at Rabeya Agro Farm in Narayanganj near the Bangladeshi capital, quickly became a viral attraction after photos and videos of the animal spread online. Curious visitors began flocking to the farm to catch a glimpse of the unusually coloured animal, which has a pinkish hue because of its rare albino breed.
According to farm owner Zia Uddin Mairda, the buffalo’s name originated as a light-hearted family joke.
“Because of its hairstyle, my younger brother gave it this name,” Mairda told ANI. “And then it went viral, and many people came to see it. I am happy about that. This is just a symbolic name... we gave it this name out of affection and love.”
Rabeya Agro Farm, located in the district town of Narayanganj outside Dhaka, raises cows and buffaloes for sacrifice during Eid al-Adha, one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar. During the festival, Muslims around the world perform Qurbani, or ritual sacrifice, to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and obedience to God.

Among the animals at the farm, the albino buffalo stood out immediately because of its appearance and distinctive facial hair pattern.
“Actually, it is an albino buffalo, whose colour is pinkish. Pinkish type. That's why it's rare and unique,” Mairda said.
He added that he had purchased the buffalo nearly ten months ago from the Rajshahi City Haat livestock market.
“Actually, my buffalo that went viral, named ‘Donald Trump’... I bought it ten months ago from the Rajshahi City Haat,” Mairda said.
As the buffalo’s popularity grew online, interest in buying it also increased ahead of Eid al-Adha. Eventually, the animal was sold to a trader from the historic Old Dhaka region on a live-weight basis.
“I sold it to have already taken delivery of it. Its price was 550 Taka per kg. It was sold on a live-weight basis at 550 Taka per kg,” Zia Uddin Mairda told ANI.
“Weight of it approximately 700 kg,” he added.
Based on the quoted rate and estimated weight, the buffalo’s total value would be around 385,000 Bangladeshi Taka.
The buyer, Mohammad Shoron from the Jinjira (Rasulpur) area, reportedly purchased the buffalo specifically for Qurbani during Eid al-Adha.
The buffalo’s viral fame appears to have created unexpected complications for its new owner. According to the report, when an ANI correspondent visited Mohammad Shoron’s residence in the Jinjira, Rasulpur area, the buyer declined to show the buffalo and said it had not yet been delivered.
Reports suggest the buyer is attempting to keep the animal away from public attention to avoid crowds and potential disturbances caused by its internet celebrity status.
Even as the buffalo became a social media phenomenon, the farm owner stressed that the name was never intended as a direct comparison between a human being and an animal.
“This is just a symbolic name. Actually, a human and an animal can never be compared or equated. It's a symbolic name, and we gave it this name out of affection and love,” the farm owner said.
