CWG 2026: Jadumani Singh Leads India's Medal Surge, Four More Reach Boxing and Judo Finals

India's combat sports contingent continued its medal march at the Commonwealth Games 2026, with boxers and judokas delivering a string of commanding performances to set up multiple gold-medal clashes in Glasgow.

Leading the charge was Jadumani Singh, who punched his way into the men's 55kg boxing final with a unanimous-decision victory over Namibia's Philip Pumulo Mutakela Haoseb, guaranteeing India at least a silver medal.

The win marked Jadumani's fourth straight unanimous victory of the Games, underlining his consistency and composure.

Although Haoseb came out aggressively, Jadumani relied on disciplined counter-punching and sharp finishing combinations to edge the opening round. He repeated the formula in the second before boxing smartly in the final round to comfortably seal his place in the gold-medal bout.

He will now face Australia's Jye Dixon for the Commonwealth title.

Jadumani also became the fifth Indian boxer to reach a final, joining Preeti Pawar, Ankush Panghal, Jaismine Lamboria and Arundhati Choudhary in India's impressive boxing campaign.

The success wasn't limited to the boxing ring.

India's judokas also enjoyed a remarkable evening, with Asmita Dey, Harsh Singh and Yamini Mourya storming into the finals of their respective weight categories.

Asmita battled past Scotland's Sumer Shaw in a gripping Golden Score contest in the women's -48kg category, clinching victory after nearly six and a half minutes of intense action.

Harsh Singh followed with a composed display against Australia's Pedro Carlos Antun Neto in the men's -60kg semifinal, controlling the bout from start to finish to book his place in the final.

Yamini Mourya then produced the most emphatic performance of the day, dispatching South Africa's Donne Breytenbach in just 1 minute and 38 seconds with a clinical Ippon, the highest possible score in judo.

All three have now assured India of medals and will fight for Commonwealth Games gold later in the competition.

With five boxers and three judokas now in gold-medal bouts, India's challenge in Glasgow continues to gather momentum as the country's combat sports athletes close in on an impressive haul of Commonwealth titles.
