Remarks on RSS: Smriti Irani Says Rahul Gandhi Makes ‘Cheap Comments’ to Stay in Headlines

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Smriti Irani on Wednesday criticised Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing him of making “cheap comments” to remain in the headlines.
Speaking to ANI during her visit to the New Delhi Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samity on Pandara Road, Irani questioned Gandhi’s attitude towards women and referred to an alleged incident involving a female police officer.
“His (Rahul Gandhi) attitude toward women is clearly evidenced by the way he physically mistreated a female police officer in uniform,” Irani said. She added that women across society, including BJP members and RSS swayamsevikas, were insulted by what she described as Gandhi’s “petty, low-level remarks”.
Irani also questioned why women were asked to comment on Gandhi’s statements if he repeatedly made such remarks. She said society had a responsibility to ensure that people holding what she called regressive views towards women were sidelined.

GANDHI’S REMARKS ON THE RSS
Irani’s comments came a day after Gandhi accused the RSS of gender inequality in a post on X. Describing the organisation as an “all-male, anti-constitutional cult”, he alleged that it viewed women as the property of men.
“The RSS is an all-male, anti-constitutional cult that believes women are the property of men. I believe in Shiva-Shakti. That's why it gives me such joy to fight them. What's beautiful is that many of their 'own' women are on my side,” Gandhi wrote.
VIJAYADASHAMI MESSAGE
Irani also spoke about the significance of Vijayadashami, describing it as a celebration of righteousness, faith and truth. She urged people to follow the path of truth, recognise their svadharma and dedicate themselves to the nation and society.
The BJP leader visited the New Delhi Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samity, which marked the 71st year of its Sharadotsav celebrations on Pandara Road. She offered prayers and participated in Sindoor Khela and the Dhunuchi dance during the Vijayadashami festivities.
