Uttarakhand Records 60 Lakh Char Dham Pilgrims This Year, Says CM Dhami

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Friday that 60 lakh pilgrims had undertaken the Char Dham Yatra so far this year, surpassing all previous records as the pilgrimage continues.
Dhami said devotees from across the country had visited the four pilgrimage sites during the initial phase and after the monsoon. He added that preparations were also underway for the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
“It is a matter of great joy that ever since Prime Minister Modi visited Baba Kedarnath, the number of pilgrims—which had declined significantly following the disaster—has seen a substantial increase,” Dhami said.
He added that work on the Badrinath Dham master plan was progressing rapidly, with efforts underway to improve facilities for pilgrims despite the challenging nature of the journey.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the state government’s efforts to make Uttarakhand drug-free, citing public awareness campaigns, strict action against drug peddlers and the participation of voluntary organisations.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on tackling drug addiction among young people, Dhami said the state was pursuing the mission through coordinated efforts.
“Today, several voluntary organisations have organised a ‘run’ here in support of a drug-free Uttarakhand,” he said.
