Tourism Ministry’s Special Campaign 6.0 to Focus on E-Waste, Cleanliness and Pending Work

The Ministry of Tourism is preparing to launch Special Campaign 6.0, a month-long drive focused on cleanliness, clearing pending work and improving the use of office space, with additional emphasis on collecting, segregating and disposing of electronic waste.
The campaign will run from October 2 to October 31 as part of a government-wide initiative covering ministries, departments, attached and subordinate offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings. Field and outstation offices providing public services will receive particular attention.
E-Waste and Pending Work in Focus
The campaign has two phases: a preparatory exercise from September 15 to September 30, followed by implementation in October.
The Tourism Ministry held a preparatory meeting with its programme divisions, institutes and domestic offices on September 16 to identify targets for the drive.
Offices have been tasked with identifying pending references, selecting sites for cleanliness activities and assessing redundant material for disposal. Preparations also cover scrap disposal, record management and measures to make better use of available space.

The ministry is mobilising officers and ground staff for these activities while identifying arrangements for the effective collection and segregation of e-waste.
The exercise brings administrative work and physical upkeep under the same campaign, covering both the disposal of unnecessary material and the reduction of pending matters across offices.
Previous Drive Freed More Than 92,000 Sq Ft
During Special Campaign 5.0, the Tourism Ministry freed 92,749 square feet of space and generated ₹12.69 lakh through scrap disposal.
It also weeded out 4,700 physical files and closed 1,100 electronic files. A total of 413 cleanliness programmes were conducted across the country.
The ministry said the latest campaign would build on those outcomes, with continued attention to cleanliness, efficient record management and clearing pending work across its offices.
Separate Airbnb Partnership Targets Homestays
Separately, the Tourism Ministry signed a two-year memorandum of understanding with Airbnb on September 28 to strengthen India’s homestay ecosystem and expand tourism beyond established destinations.
The partnership will focus on training hosts, helping homestay owners join Airbnb’s platform and promoting destinations.
Workshops and training resources will cover listing creation, pricing, platform tools and hospitality practices. Airbnb will also support the digital onboarding of homestay owners as part of the collaboration.
