A bomb scare was reported on an IndiGo flight bound for Shillong at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Saturday morning, prompting authorities to move the aircraft to the isolation bay and initiate a full security check.
Officials said a letter recovered from the aircraft's toilet triggered the scare, after which security was tightened and a search operation was launched.
A thorough check of the aircraft is currently underway, and further information on the incident is awaited.
Airport Director Vikram Singh also told ANI that the note claiming the presence of a bomb was discovered during boarding, leading to immediate evacuation and security action.
A separate bomb threat also caused concern at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad earlier this week before it was declared a hoax after detailed checks.
Officials said an email warning about a blast during the arrival of a Gulf Air flight from Bahrain was received, which read "Blast in Hyderabad Airport Terminals When Gulf Air 274 From Bahrain Lands to RGIA".

The performance state at its peak
"The email threatened a blast at the airport at the time of flight landing. By the time the email was received, the flight had already landed. Security checking was carried out and nothing suspicious was found, and the bomb threat turned out to be a hoax," news agency Press Trust of India quoted a police official as saying.
Police have registered a case in connection with the Hyderabad threat, while coordinated security procedures continue to be followed in all such incidents.
Last month, on January 23, another bomb threat was reported on IndiGo Flight 6E 2608 operating from Delhi to Pune.
The threat, in the form of a handwritten note found in the aircraft's lavatory, surfaced upon arrival at Pune Airport.
The flight landed safely, and all passengers were deboarded. The aircraft, scheduled to arrive at 8:40 pm, landed at 9:24 pm and was parked at Bay No. 3 at 9:27 pm.
Air Traffic Control then communicated the bomb threat information to Apron Control, following which the aircraft was moved to the isolation bay and the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee was convened.
The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted a thorough check and no suspicious or adverse findings were detected.
The aircraft was subsequently cleared and released for normal operations.
