Actress-politician Kangana Ranaut became the talk of the town on Friday morning after videos of her wearing a mangalsutra necklace and traditional wedding bangles went viral on social media, sparking speculation about a possible secret marriage and the identity of the “lucky guy”.
The 40-year-old later clarified the rumours through Instagram, revealing that the look was part of her character for an upcoming film, reportedly a sequel to her 2013 hit ‘Queen’. The sequel is tentatively titled ‘Queen Forever’.
Kangana posted a video on her Instagram stories, which carried a Hindi text that read: “Is Kangana Ranaut secretly married? The actor was spotted with mangalsutra and green bangles.”
Addressing the speculation, she wrote that it was merely her look for a film and expressed surprise at the attention it received.
“I am filming in and around the city every single day, some one clicked this random picture with character make up and now I am getting so many phone calls, but what is the big deal about the married woman's look? Actors play all kinds of roles, I won't marry secretly I promise,” she stated.

In another post, Kangana spoke about shooting outdoors amid the ongoing heat wave and took a swipe at news anchors.
“News anchors from their AC studios are complaining about the temperature and heat wave outside, what about those like us who are filming outdoors with loads of added lights and enclosed spaces, ha ha stop complaining guys, life is great for as long as it's challenging you feel alive if it's easy and predictable it's like death, happy summer,” she wrote.
Kangana is set to reprise her role as Rani Mehra in the sequel, which has reportedly begun shooting in Mumbai.
Directed by Vikas Bahl, the original film followed a conservative Delhi girl abandoned by her fiancé Vijay, played by Rajkummar Rao, just a day before their wedding. Heartbroken, Rani travels alone to Paris and Amsterdam, where she discovers independence and a new sense of self.
The film also starred Lisa Haydon, Mish Boyko, Yogendra Tikku, Alka Kaushal and Chinamay Chandraunshush.
The actor recently completed 20 years in the film industry, having debuted at 18 with ‘Gangster’. She was last seen in ‘Emergency’, which also marked her solo directorial debut after ‘Manikarnika’, for which she shared directing credit with Krish Jagarlamudi.
Kangana’s upcoming projects include the political drama ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’, directed by Manoj Tapadia.
Based on the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the film is set inside a hospital and features Girija Oak, Smita Tambe, Amrutha Namdev, Esha Dey, Priya Berde, Asha Shelar, Suhita Thatte, Rasika Aghase, Aditya Mishra and Zahid Khan. The film is slated for release on June 12.
