Sydney Sweeney’s cameo has been removed from the final cut of The Devil Wears Prada 2, despite the actor originally filming a scene for the highly anticipated sequel, according to Variety.
Sweeney was among several notable figures expected to make appearances in the follow-up to the 2006 film.
Reports cited by Variety indicate that she had shot a sequence near the beginning of the movie, playing herself. In the scene, Emily Blunt’s character Emily Charlton, now heading Dior’s U.S. operations, is shown styling Sweeney for an event.
However, the sequence was ultimately excluded during editing.
According to reports, the scene did not work structurally with the rest of the sequence, and the team found the decision to remove it a difficult one.
While Sweeney’s appearance did not make the final version, the film retains several high-profile cameos.
Lady Gaga is set to feature and has recorded the track Runway with Doechii. Donatella Versace shot a scene in Milan, while supermodel Naomi Campbell appears alongside Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly.
Another role removed from the final cut was that of actor Conrad Ricamora, who had been cast as Andy’s roommate.

Reports, as per Variety, suggest that the character did not test well with audiences, who questioned why Andy needed a roommate. The narrative now focuses more on Andy’s interactions with the character played by Tracie Thoms.
The sequel recently premiered in New York and features several prominent names and special appearances from the fashion and entertainment industries.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 follows Streep’s Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, as she navigates the decline of print journalism and seeks to adapt within a struggling industry.
Priestly finds herself in conflict with Emily Charlton, her former assistant, who has risen to become a powerful executive at a luxury group controlling advertising revenue that Priestly urgently needs.
Directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the film reunites the original creative team.
The cast includes Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, and B.J. Novak, along with returning actors Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman.
Backed by 20th Century Studios, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to release in India on May 1, 2026.
