The Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, has registered a strong run at the box office in its first weekend, emerging as the top draw in theatres by overtaking Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

Many viewers have praised its humour and unique storyline, while some critics have pointed out flaws in the plot. The film has continued to attract massive family audiences to theatres, even during the ongoing IPL season.

Released on Friday, the film collected Rs 23 crore nett on day three, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

It earned Rs 3.75 crore from paid previews, followed by Rs 12.25 crore on Day 1 and Rs 19 crore on Day 2. On its first Sunday, the film was screened across 11,682 shows in India.

With these numbers, the domestic collection stands at Rs 58 crore nett and Rs 69.37 crore gross. The overseas collection is Rs 7 crore, taking the worldwide gross total to Rs 95.87 crore.

Directed by Priyadarshan, the film marks his reunion with Kumar after 16 years. Their last collaboration was Khatta Meetha.

The ensemble cast includes Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Mithila Palkar, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajesh Sharma and the late Asrani.

The cast also features Manoj Joshi, Zakir Hussain, Ashwini Kalsekar and Mithun Chakraborty, among others.
