1. Why is Diljit Dosanjh’s Indore concert in the news?

Indore’s Women and Child Development Department has written to organisers of the November 15 concert. District officer Rajneesh Sinha told ANI that the department wants them to avoid songs that glorify drugs, intoxicants or weapons because of their potential influence on children.

2. Did Indore name any songs?

Sinha described the kinds of lyrics the department wants organisers to avoid. In the remarks reported by ANI, he gave no song titles. Whether the letter itself singles out any tracks from Diljit’s catalogue remains unclear.

3. Who raised the objection?

ANI traced the move to a complaint by Chandigarh-based Punditrao Dharenavar. He raised similar objections during Diljit’s 2024 Dil-Luminati tour. His complaint before the Hyderabad show that year cited three songs, “Case,” “Patiala Peg” and “5 Taara.”

4. What did the High Court actually say?

Sinha cited a 2019 Punjab and Haryana High Court ruling. It directed police chiefs in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh to prevent songs glorifying alcohol, drugs or violence from being played, including at live shows. Those are the jurisdictions named in the ruling. The letter to organisers in Madhya Pradesh came from Indore’s own district department.

5. How did Diljit handle a similar request in Chandigarh?

Chandigarh’s child rights commission named “Patiala Peg,” “5 Taara” and “Case” in its December 2024 advisory. It asked him to avoid even versions with altered lyrics. At the show, Diljit sang “Patiala Soda” in place of “Patiala Peg.”

6. What did he sing at the Aura Tour opener?

Diljit opened the Indian leg at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30. ANI reported that the set included “G.O.A.T.,” “Ikk Kudi,” “Case” and “Panjtaara,” along with “Saanson Ki Mala.”

7. Is the Indore show still on?

Diljit’s official tour page still lists the November 15 show at C21 Estate. As of November 7, there was no public response from Diljit or his team to the letter. Whether he changes the set list is still open.
