India’s largest two-wheeler maker reported a solid start to the financial year, signalling strong consumer demand across segments. Domestic retail sales stood at 5,52,713 units in April 2026, based on VAHAN registrations, reflecting a growth of about 8 per cent.
At the same time, the company’s dispatches to dealers reached 5,66,086 units, suggesting that supply is keeping pace with rising demand in the market.
The company highlighted the scale of this improvement, saying, "Hero MotoCorp reported a strong performance in April 2026 with dispatches of 566,086 units as compared to 305,406 units during the same period last year."
The growth is particularly notable because it comes on a low base from the previous year and signals a broader recovery in the two-wheeler market.
A key driver has been the internal combustion engine (ICE) business, which remains the backbone of Hero MotoCorp’s portfolio. The company said the segment "recorded its highest April dispatch in the post-pandemic period... with volumes rising by 83% compared to the previous year."
This indicates that conventional petrol-powered motorcycles and scooters are still seeing strong demand despite the gradual shift toward electric mobility.

The company emphasised that growth was not limited to a single category but spread across its entire lineup.
According to the statement, "growth was broad-based across Entry, Deluxe, Premium and Scooter segments, reflecting sustained consumer demand and strengthening market presence."
This broad-based expansion suggests that both budget-conscious buyers and premium customers are contributing to the surge.
Hero MotoCorp’s electric mobility arm, VIDA, is also gaining momentum, albeit from a smaller base compared to its ICE business.
The company noted that VIDA "continued its strong upward momentum, more than doubling dispatches with record year-on-year growth of 129%."
This sharp rise indicates growing consumer acceptance of electric two-wheelers and the company’s increasing focus on this segment.
Beyond India, Hero MotoCorp is also seeing steady traction globally.
The company said, "the Company's Global Business recorded robust growth with dispatches of 33,653 units," pointing to consistent demand in overseas markets.
Exports formed a smaller but important portion of total volumes, complementing strong domestic sales.
A closer look at the data shows that motorcycles continue to dominate the company’s portfolio, with sales of 5,01,791 units in April. Scooters contributed 64,295 units.
Domestic dispatches stood at 5,32,433 units, while exports accounted for 33,653 units during the month.
Alongside sales growth, the company is also investing in expanding its reach and strengthening its retail presence.
It added 70 new customer touchpoints during April and continued to build its premium retail footprint, indicating a focus on improving accessibility and customer experience.
