On Thursday, a knife-wielding man attacked two Jewish residents on the streets of Golders Green, north London, in what the Metropolitan Police have formally declared a terrorist incident.
The attack has sent shockwaves through Britain's Jewish community and reignited an urgent national debate about the safety of Jewish people in the country.
According to the Metropolitan Police, officers responded at 11:16 BST after reports of stabbings on Highfield Avenue.
CCTV footage shows the suspect jogging before attacking his first victim, then approaching a bus stop minutes later to stab a second man.
Officers deployed a Taser after he refused to drop the knife. He was hospitalised, discharged, and remains in police custody.
Who Are the Victims, and How Are They Doing?
The two men have been named locally as Shilome Rand, 34, reportedly on his way to pray at a nearby synagogue, and Moshe Shine, 76, who was waiting at a bus stop.
Both were treated by Hatzola, a Jewish volunteer emergency service, before hospital transfer. Both remain in a stable condition.

Who Is the Suspect, and Is There a Wider Network?
A 45-year-old British national, born in Somalia, is in custody on suspicion of attempted murder.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley told the BBC that he has "a history of serious violence and mental health issues."
An alleged Iranian-linked group, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia (HAYI), has claimed responsibility via channels affiliated with the Iranian regime. That claim is under active investigation.
Is This Part of a Wider Antisemitism Crisis?
Based on the Community Security Trust, the UK recorded 3,700 antisemitic incidents in 2025 alone, more than double the 1,662 recorded in 2022.
Golders Green has been targeted repeatedly since March: four Jewish ambulances were set ablaze, petrol bombs were thrown at two synagogues, and a memorial wall was torched days before this attack.
This is also the second declared terror attack on British Jews in seven months, following a car-ramming outside a Manchester synagogue in October 2025 that killed two people.
What Does This Mean for Britain's Jewish Community Going Forward?
According to NBC News, roughly half of Golders Green's 15,000 residents are Jewish, making it one of Europe's most visibly Jewish neighbourhoods and, increasingly, a focal point for targeted violence.
Whether institutional responses move beyond statements is the question Britain now cannot avoid.
