SINDHU BEATS KJAERSFELDT IN STRAIGHT GAMES
Sindhu clinched the women's singles title with a commanding 21-12, 21-14 victory over Denmark's Line Kjaersfeldt in the final.
The Indian shuttler produced a dominant performance in Germany, bouncing back from her runner-up finish at the French Open a week earlier. She had lost the final there to South Korean world number one An Se Young.
In the opening game against Kjaersfeldt, Sindhu made a confident start, although the Danish player initially kept the contest competitive. Kjaersfeldt tested the Indian across the court and brought the score to 5-5 before Sindhu began to take control.
Sindhu entered the interval with an 11-8 advantage and used sharp returns and attacking strokes to widen the gap, eventually closing out the game 21-12.
The second game saw Kjaersfeldt put up a stronger challenge, reducing Sindhu's early 7-3 lead to 7-6. However, the Indian regained control by forcing errors and moving her opponent around the court.
Sindhu led 11-7 at the interval and extended her advantage to 19-11. Despite a late attempt by Kjaersfeldt to narrow the deficit, the Indian held her nerve to seal the match 21-14.
SECOND WORLD TOUR TITLE AFTER JAPAN OPEN
The HYLO Open victory marks Sindhu's second BWF World Tour title of 2026. She had earlier won the Japan Open in July.
The latest triumph comes after an impressive run at the French Open, where she reached the final before losing to An Se Young.
The HYLO Open title adds to Sindhu's growing list of achievements as she continues her campaign on the international badminton circuit.
