Krunal Pandya has offered a close-up view of what continues to set Virat Kohli apart, even after years at the top level of world cricket. Speaking about his experience at Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Krunal emphasised that Kohli’s preparation and relentless intensity remain unmatched.
“I have learned a lot just by watching Virat Kohli, the way he prepares for a tournament and the intensity he brings to every practice session. I have played with him for India when he was captain, and I have also played against him. Now, I am lucky to share the same dressing room with him again,” Krunal said.
He underlined that Kohli’s mindset has not diminished over time, describing his hunger as extraordinary.
“What I have realised is that his hunger is still unbelievable. Those eyes don't lie. The same intensity in every net session, the same hunger to improve. That is what makes him Virat. I believe if he had played in any era, he would still be one of the greatest. And I feel there is still a lot left in Virat to give to the game,” he added.
Beyond his admiration for Kohli, Krunal spoke candidly about his own ambitions. Despite success in the Indian Premier League, he made it clear that returning to the national side remains his ultimate goal.

Now all of India is in his thrall
“Winning the IPL trophy and performing well in the tournament has been a great feeling. But every cricketer has a dream. Since childhood, my dream has always been to represent the country. That hasn't changed. Playing for India is the biggest blessing, honour, and achievement for me and donning the Blue Jersey once again is a dream, and it's still alive,” he said.
“I want to keep doing what I am doing and earn that privilege again. I am keeping my fingers crossed for that,” he added.
Krunal last represented India in 2021 and has had a limited but impactful international career, featuring in both ODIs and T20Is.
Krunal’s statements come on the back of a standout performance for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a dramatic win over Mumbai Indians.
Chasing 167, RCB found themselves in early trouble at 39/3. Krunal then anchored the innings with a composed yet aggressive 73 off 46 balls. He built key partnerships with Jacob Bethell and Jitesh Sharma to guide the team towards the target.
His innings was marked by resilience as he battled cramps but continued to push through, even striking two sixes late in the innings before being dismissed in the 18th over. RCB eventually sealed a thrilling two-wicket victory on the final ball.
Krunal’s performance and comments together reflect a player still driven by ambition and self-belief. While he continues to deliver in franchise cricket, his focus remains firmly on earning another opportunity to represent India.
At the same time, his admiration for Kohli highlights the influence of senior players in maintaining high standards within teams, especially in high-pressure tournaments like the IPL.
