Gordon and Kane Strike as England Beat 10-Man Czechia in UEFA Nations League

Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane scored second-half goals as England beat 10-man Czechia 2-0 at Prague’s Fortuna Arena on Tuesday to recover from a losing start to their UEFA Nations League campaign.

After a 3-2 defeat to Spain in their opener, England returned to winning ways ahead of their next fixture against Croatia in Rijeka on October 3.

Czechia were reduced to 10 men in the first half when Pavel Sulc was sent off for a challenge on Elliot Anderson’s shin. England, however, had to wait until after the interval to make their numerical advantage count.

Gordon Breaks the Deadlock

Gordon opened the scoring in the 47th minute, converting a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold to score in his third consecutive competitive appearance.

Kane added England’s second after Ladislav Krejci and Morgan Rogers contested a loose ball. It fell to the England captain, who finished into the far corner to extend the visitors’ lead.

The result gave England a lift before their trip to Croatia, who suffered a heavy defeat to Spain in the other match.

Yamal Leads Spain’s Rout of Croatia

Lamine Yamal scored twice and supplied an assist as Spain beat Croatia 4-1 in Seville. According to ANI, the result made Spain the first international team to go 40 matches unbeaten.

The reigning European and World Cup champions took the lead in the second minute. Marc Cucurella broke down the left and Fermin Lopez helped the move along before Yamal fired past goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic.

Croatia equalised in the 28th minute through Dion Drena Beljo, who headed home an Ivan Perisic cross. Spain restored their advantage just three minutes later, with Yamal delivering from the right for Marc Pubill to head in.

Spain led 2-1 at half-time and pulled further ahead in the 63rd minute when Yamal beat Livakovic at the near post for his second goal.

Nico Williams completed the scoring with a right-footed curling finish into the far corner, leaving Croatia looking for a response when they host England.
