Asian Games 2026: Shooters Win India’s Third Silver, Women’s Table Tennis Team Sweeps Pakistan

India added a third shooting silver to its Asian Games 2026 tally and secured a women’s table tennis quarterfinal berth in a strong start to Monday’s action in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Rudrankksh Patil, Parth Mane and Himanshu Dhillon combined to finish second in the men’s 10m air rifle team event. Meanwhile, the women’s table tennis team swept Pakistan 3–0 to follow up Sunday’s comeback victory over Singapore.

All three of India’s medals so far have come in shooting, with Monday’s podium finish building on two silvers won by the women’s rifle shooters a day earlier.

Rifle Trio Keeps Silver Run Going

India posted a combined score of 1890.1, finishing behind China’s gold-winning 1899.0. South Korea took bronze with 1841.4.

The individual qualification round also served as the team final. Rudrankksh led the Indian contingent with 631.8 to finish third, while Himanshu placed seventh with 630.0. Both qualified for the individual final, scheduled for later in the day. Parth finished 11th with 628.3.

Rudrankksh recovered from an opening series of 104.2 to produce India’s highest individual total. Himanshu began with 105.3, while Parth opened with 104.5, with their aggregate across six series securing the team silver.

The result followed Sunday’s double podium finish in women’s 10m air rifle. Elavenil Valarivan won individual silver and joined Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarsa Kochalumkal Vinod to claim silver in the team event.

Nine Games, No Reply

At the table tennis venue, India won all nine games across three singles matches to seal its second Group F victory and advance to the women’s team quarterfinals.

India brought Suthirtha Mukherjee and Syndrela Das into the line-up in place of Diya Chitale and Yashaswini Ghorpade. Both delivered straight-games victories.

Suthirtha set the tone by beating Aleena Khan 11–3, 11–3, 11–4. Syndrela followed with an 11–6, 11–7, 11–5 victory over Kalsoom Khan, putting India one win away from sealing the tie.

Sreeja Akula completed the sweep, defeating Fatima Khan 11–4, 11–4, 11–5.

Monday’s comfortable passage followed a much tighter opening encounter against Singapore. Trailing 1–2 on Sunday, India had needed victories from Sreeja and Yashaswini in the final two matches to complete a 3–2 comeback.

With a quarterfinal place secured in table tennis and two Indians through to the men’s individual air rifle final, India’s Monday campaign gathered early momentum.
