Asian Games 2026: Rudrankksh Patil Eyes LA Olympics After Three-Medal Haul

Three Asian Games medals secured, Rudrankksh Patil already has his next target in sight: qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The rifle shooter won two team silvers and an individual bronze in Aichi-Nagoya, contributing to a shooting haul that stood at 11 of India’s 37 medals as the competition continued.

“Shooting is one of the powerhouses for the country. The main goal is qualification for the Olympics next year,” Rudrankksh told ANI.

He credited his family and government support for his journey, while urging the Indian athletes still competing to add more golds.

Two Team Silvers and an Individual Bronze

Rudrankksh won silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team event alongside Parth Mane and Himanshu Dhillon. He added another in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team competition with Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Niraj Kumar.

An individual bronze in the men’s 10m air rifle completed his three-medal campaign.

India’s shooting tally so far comprises one gold, six silvers and four bronze medals, making it one of the country’s most productive sports at these Games.

Tilottama’s Debut Ends With a Medal to Take Home

For Tilottama Sen, her first Asian Games brought a team silver and the prospect of celebrating with her family.

She joined Ashi Chouksey and Vidarsa Vinod on the podium in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event, although an individual medal eluded her.

“I am very happy to be back with a medal. This is my first Asian Games, and I am grateful to have had this opportunity,” Tilottama told ANI.

“I want to dedicate this medal to my parents and coach. I will celebrate the win with my family back home.”

Ashi Takes Pride in Another Silver

Ashi credited the collective performance for the women’s team result, saying the podium finish was something to celebrate.

“It was a team effort, and we did really well. I am really happy we finished at the podium. My silver streak continues,” she said.

“A silver medal is really great, and we should be really proud of that.”

She also highlighted shooting’s contribution to India’s medal count and her pride in being part of the contingent.

Two Medals on Debut for Vidarsa

Vidarsa finished her debut Asian Games with two silvers. Alongside the 50m rifle 3 positions team medal, she won silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event with Elavenil Valarivan and Sonam Maskar.

“This is my Asian Games debut. I was not expecting anything, just focused on giving my best. But now I have two medals, and I am so proud,” she told ANI.

She dedicated her success to her coach, Manoj, completing a set of homecoming reflections in which family, coaching support and the next competitive target featured as prominently as the medals themselves.
