Asian Games 2026: India’s Women Shooters Win Team Silver, Tilottama & Vidarsa Enter Final

India’s women rifle shooters secured a team silver and kept two individual medal hopes alive at the Asian Games 2026 on Saturday, with Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa K Vinod qualifying for the 50m rifle three positions final in Aichi-Nagoya.

Tilottama, Vidarsa and Ashi Chouksey finished behind China with a combined score of 1763-90x. Tilottama led India’s scoring with 590 points, followed by Vidarsa on 588 and Ashi on 585.

The qualification round also determined places in the individual final. Tilottama advanced in third position and Vidarsa in sixth, while Ashi missed out.

Vidarsa Recovers to Secure Final Berth

Vidarsa’s route to the final included a recovery after scoring 193 in the kneeling stage. She responded with 199 in prone and added 196 in standing, taking her total to 588 and securing sixth place.

Ashi also shot 199 in prone, matching Vidarsa’s score in that position. Her 196 in kneeling and 190 in standing gave her 585 overall, contributing to the team silver but leaving her short of an individual final berth.

The event tests shooters across kneeling, prone and standing positions. For India, the qualification round delivered a podium finish through the trio’s combined effort, with Tilottama and Vidarsa earning another opportunity to compete for medals.

Marathon Silver, Tejaswin Moves Into Second

The shooting result followed Sawan Barwal’s silver in the men’s marathon. Barwal clocked 2:11:37 to add another medal to India’s athletics campaign.

In the decathlon, Tejaswin Shankar moved into second place overall after topping the long jump with a best effort of 7.53 metres. He had finished fifth in the 100m event.

Thowfeeq Noushad, seventh in the 100m, placed third in the long jump with 7.37 metres. After the two events, Tejaswin had 1,807 points and Thowfeeq stood fourth with 1,759.

Fencing Teams Advance, Kayak Pair Reach Final A

India’s women’s foil and men’s sabre teams progressed to the fencing quarterfinals with comfortable round-of-16 victories.

The women beat Indonesia 45-24, while the men defeated the Philippines 45-27.

In canoe sprint, Parvathy Geetha and Prasanna Kumar qualified for Final A of the mixed kayak double 500m after finishing second in their semifinal.

Harshwardhan Shaktawat placed fifth in the men’s kayak single 500m semifinal and advanced to Final B.

Lakshya Sen Exits in Second Round

India suffered a setback in badminton as Lakshya Sen lost a three-game men’s singles contest to Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew.

Lakshya recovered from losing the opening game to force a decider, but went down 12-21, 21-15, 14-21 in the second round.

In table tennis, Yashaswini Ghorpade lost to Japan’s Miwa Harimoto in the third round of women’s singles.
