Britain’s leading sleep experts have found that women need 20 minutes more sleep than men.
Who will sacrifice precious minutes of sleep to change diapers or finish the household chores? Who needs more sleep—men or women? This question can finally be put to rest as Britain’s leading sleep experts have found that women need 20 minutes more sleep than men. Lack of sleep also tends to affect women’s judgement, creativity and ability to realise their full potential. According to Professor Jim Horne, director of Sleep Research Centre at Loughborough University, a woman’s brain is more attuned to multi-tasking. Hence, she requires more sleep to allow the brain to recover and repair itself. “Women do lots at once and are flexible—so they use more of their actual brain than men do. Because of that, their sleep need is greater,” he says.
