China International Travel Mart, the largest professional travel mart in Asia, was held in Kunming from 13th to 15th November 2015. Over 1000 hosted buyers from various countries and regions came together to exchange information and enhance cooperation.
A major highlight of India’s participation was the India-China Tourism Forum at CITM. The Forum was addressed by the Hon’ble Minister for Tourism & Culture, Dr. Mahesh Sharma and Mr. Li Jinzao, Chairman, China National Tourism Administration.
Tourism has become a major content of bilateral cooperation. China will launch the ‘Visit China Year in India 2016’. During the campaign, various tourism and exchange activities will be organized to further promote tourism between the two countries.
Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, is known as ‘the City of Eternal Spring’ for its pleasant climate and flowers that bloom all year long. With a history of more than 2,400 years, it was the gateway to the celebrated Silk Road that facilitated trade with Tibet, Sichuan, Myanmar, and India and beyond. Today it is the provincial political, economical and cultural center of Yunnan as well as the most popular tourist destination in southwest China.
