
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said it was a "pleasant coincidence" that the oath-taking ceremony of the first-ever BJP government in West Bengal took place on Pochishe Boishakh, the Jayanti of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, "At the ceremony, tributes were paid to Gurudev Tagore. His timeless words have long stirred the conscience of the nation and his vision continues to illuminate India's development journey."
Rajya Sabha MP and Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar also congratulated Suvendu Adhikari after he took oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal, expressing confidence that his leadership would "accelerate the state's development journey."
"Heartfelt congratulations to Shri Suvendu Adhikari ji on taking the oath as the Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal. I am confident that your leadership will give new direction to the aspirations of the people of the state and will further accelerate development in the state," Nitish Kumar posted on X.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday met Union Ministers and Chief Ministers from various states after the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal.
The Uttarakhand CM extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and the entire Council of Ministers on taking the oath.
He said that he is fully confident that under Adhikari's leadership and visionary approach, West Bengal will scale new heights of progress, good governance, and development.
He also expressed confidence that the welfare schemes of the Central Government will reach every eligible citizen of the state, giving fresh momentum to the overall development of West Bengal.
Former Union Minister and High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi on Saturday termed the formation of the new government in West Bengal as the "Independence Day of Bengal," saying women across the state have expressed joy and extended their blessings to the BJP-led government.
Speaking to ANI in Kolkata, Trivedi said, "Today is the Independence Day of Bengal. The tears of joy of the women show that they have got freedom. Their special blessings are with us."
Earlier, Adhikari said the day was significant for both the state and the country, adding that the oath-taking ceremony was held on Rabindra Jayanti as per the Prime Minister's wish.
He also said his government would focus on rebuilding West Bengal, asserting that the state has suffered setbacks in education and culture and needs restoration.
