A charged moment of disruption met with composure defined an otherwise celebratory night at Aura World Tour 2026 in Calgary.
Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh was performing before a packed crowd in Canada’s Calgary, moving across a raised platform in traditional attire under colourful spotlights as fans sang along.
Midway through the concert, videos from the venue showed some pro-Khalistani elements in the crowd waving flags associated with groups banned in India under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967.
The singer paused his performance to address the disruption. Holding the microphone, he pointed towards the section of the crowd and asked those involved to stop the nuisance and take it elsewhere.
He also recalled similar disruptions at his previous concerts, including shows in Australia last year, where pro-Khalistan protestors had created ruckus.
During the interaction, Dosanjh addressed criticism from pro-Khalistan groups over his appearance on the television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.
The criticism stemmed from the singer touching Bachchan’s feet, with the actor having been accused by some of inciting violence against the Sikh community during the 1984 Sikh Genocide..

“My job is not to do charity. But whichever platform I go on, I always talk about Punjab,” Dosanjh said on stage.
“We often say the national media doesn’t talk about Punjab enough. I went everywhere, including on that channel (Sony Entertainment Television for KBC) for the sake of Punjab. I put forth Punjab’s issues there. I’ve even donated generously to my state whenever needed,” he added, drawing cheers from the audience.
The concert came against the backdrop of heightened concerns in Canada.
A recent report by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, tabled in Parliament, acknowledged the threat posed by Khalistani elements, stating that their activities continue to promote a violent extremist agenda.
Amid the tension, a moment of warmth stood out. Dosanjh knelt on stage to perform for a specially-abled fan during the concert.
Sharing a video of the interaction on Instagram, he was seen inviting the fan on stage during his performance of the song Hass Hass. The fan smiled as she attempted to sing along with him.
“CALGARY. AURA TOUR 2026,” read the caption of the post.
The gesture prompted an outpouring of appreciation online. “King behaviour,” one user wrote.
“Wish every celebrity could be like him, what a true example of being so grounded and humble, bless you more and more,” another commented. “Amazinggggg!!!!!!!!,” said a third.
