The layoffs, which began on Tuesday, are reported to have impacted multiple divisions, including engineering and cloud infrastructure.

Several employees said access to internal systems was revoked abruptly, with terminations executed remotely, leaving little time for transition or closure.

What Are Oracle Employees Revealing About Their Severance Packages on Reddit?

Employees on the subreddit r/employeesofOracle have shared what they claim are details of the packages received.

The terms appear to vary significantly by location, with differences noted between India and the United States.

One user, u/Lavishness897, provided a detailed breakdown of the severance package for employees at Oracle’s India Development Centre in Bengaluru.

According to the post, the company is offering 15 days of base salary in addition to unused leaves, along with two months of ex gratia payment and an additional 15 days for every year of service.

Impacted employees are also said to receive one month of gardening leave salary and Rs 20,000 for insurance.

Why Is Oracle Linking Full Severance to “Voluntary and Amicable” Resignations?

The user wrote, “It is 15 days per year + annual leave +( ex gratia - additional 15 days per year + 2 months) + 1 month garden leave or in lieu salary + 20k for insurance Note: this is for IDC db org bangalore.”

If accurate, the total payout for Indian employees amounts to roughly three months and 15 days of salary, excluding unused vacation days and tenure-linked benefits.

The final package may vary depending on role and hierarchy, though the company has not confirmed these details.

The job cuts have been described by Oracle as part of a “reduction in force and other terminations” in a notice filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The law mandates that employers provide at least 60 days’ notice ahead of layoffs.

A notable condition in the reported severance structure is that the full package appears to depend on employees opting for a “voluntary and amicable” resignation.

In January 2026, Amazon laid off 16,000 employees globally, including in India. Affected workers said the company offered a severance package that included full pay and benefits for 90 days.
