A viral video showing a London transport authority staffer speaking rudely to an elderly woman has stirred controversy.

A passerby recorded the act and published the video on her Instagram account (Boujee Blendss). In the viral video, the Instagram user can also be heard confronting the employee over his purportedly rude behavior with a senior citizen.

“In the interaction he called her a fool and told her to use her brain and was outright rude,” she said on Instagram video's caption.

The person facing backlash reportedly works for Transport for London, a statutory integrated transport authority responsible for managing London's public transport network, main roads, and traffic control systems.

In the video, he can be seen telling the elderly woman: “You're not using your brain. Walk along, it's on your right.” According to Blendss, a hairdresser, the employee did not stop there and went on to call the woman a “fool,” further aggravating the interaction.

Clearly upset by what she perceived as unbecoming behaviour, she challenged him on the spot, questioning both his language and tone. “She's not using her brain, yeah? She's not using her brain, right? You're talking to her in a patronising tone - and she's not using her brain, right? And she's a fool, yeah, yeah?” she said, repeating his words back to him in a pointed manner.
