Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Tokyo on Wednesday for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening the state’s investment opportunities and industrial growth.

During the Uttar Pradesh Investment Roadshow in Tokyo, he presented the state as a global hub for skilled labour and a massive consumption market with a population of 250 million.

Uttar Pradesh is known as the food basket of India. Uttar Pradesh is also the state with the largest water resources in India. Keeping the needs of Uttar Pradesh in mind, we have identified a population of 250 million within Uttar Pradesh.
CM Yogi Adityanath said, speaking at the event.

“Fifty-six per cent of this 250 million population is youth, a working force. Skilled manpower is always available to you in any field. Affordable and quality manpower for every sector is available in Uttar Pradesh today," he added.

He highlighted the state’s infrastructure and industrial potential, noting, "Today, Uttar Pradesh alone accounts for ninety-five per cent of India's expressways. Uttar Pradesh boasts India's largest rail network. I would like to invite Japanese business leaders to visit Uttar Pradesh to contribute to advancing the private industrial park program.”

Why did CM Yogi Adityanath emphasise Uttar Pradesh’s economic growth and policy success?

“I am pleased to report the significant success Uttar Pradesh has achieved in air connectivity. In the last nine years, we have operationalised sixteen domestic and four international airports within Uttar Pradesh, and India's largest international airport, Noida International Airport, is soon to be operational,” he added.

"There are many opportunities in Uttar Pradesh, and the results of the government's various policies over the past nine years are evident. Uttar Pradesh has established itself as one of the fastest-growing states economically in the nation,” he further added.

He also emphasized the state’s cultural and spiritual significance, saying, "Uttar Pradesh is the birthplace of Lord Ram, King of the Suryavansh and the holy land of Lord Buddha. Uttar Pradesh is central to Buddhism, holding various sacred sites in Lord Buddha's life."

During his visit, CM Yogi held meetings with leading Japanese companies to explore investment opportunities.

"Had a productive and forward-looking meeting with Mr. Kazuki Shimizu, Managing Officer, Chief Operating Officer of Infrastructure Projects Business Unit, Mitsui & Co., along with senior members of his team, in Tokyo today,” he said.

What discussions did CM Yogi hold with Konoike Transport on logistics and infrastructure in UP?

“Invited Mitsui & Co. to explore transformative investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh across Renewable Energy, ICT, Semiconductors and Data Centers, aligned with the state's rapid industrial expansion,” he added.

“Also discussed collaboration in infrastructure projects, logistics networks and industrial investments to strengthen Uttar Pradesh's growth corridors and global supply chain integration,” he said.

He also met with Konoike Transport Co., Ltd., and said, "Met with Mr. Shigeki Tanabe, Senior Managing Executive Officer, Executive General Manager, Sales Management Division/In charge of Domestic Business, Konoike Transport Co., Ltd., along with his team in Tokyo today.”

“Discussed expanding Konoike's presence in Uttar Pradesh across logistics parks, warehousing and multimodal transport infrastructure. Invited the company to explore opportunities in medical devices manufacturing, leveraging the Dedicated Freight Corridor network and the Medical Devices Park in YEIDA, further strengthening India-Japan industrial cooperation," he added.

The visit comes on the heels of CM Yogi’s engagements in Singapore, where Uttar Pradesh received investment proposals worth up to Rs 1 lakh crore, with Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 60,000 crore already finalised.

The state aims to leverage such initiatives to transform into a 1 trillion dollar economy.

During his stay in Tokyo from February 25-26, CM Yogi is expected to participate in further key meetings and interactions to bolster bilateral cooperation and explore additional investment opportunities for Uttar Pradesh.
