Even as his disastrous tenure as interim administrator of Bangladesh came to an end, Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus could not contain his disappointment over his allies, the Jamaate-Islami party, failing to win enough seats to be in government.

Yunus cheekily referred to the Northeast states without mentioning India, revealing why his protestations over the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh during his term in office ring hollow. The fact remains that Yunus provided an air of immunity to India-baiters of all shades. His exit can be summed up in two words: good riddance.
