After having warned India of ‘enmity’ for sheltering ousted Bangladesh leader Sheikh Hasina, the government headed by interim administrator Muhammad Yunus has dialled down, saying the extradition request is not the only issue between the two nations.

Yunus seems to have realised that receiving fawning reviews from Western media does not solve his real problems. Hasina has attacked him for promoting relations with Pakistani covert agencies to the detriment of Bangladeshi interests and said he lacks a popular mandate. Having shot his mouth off on sensitive border issues, Yunus is now backpedalling, hoping to improve relations with India.
