US President Donald Trump hosted a UFC fight night on the White House grounds on Sunday as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. The event also coincided with Trump's 80th birthday and attracted senior administration officials, supporters and members of the Trump family.
According to CNN, the event generated significant enthusiasm among Trump's supporters, who gathered for the fights and surrounding fan activities. However, the spectacle also faced criticism from opponents and scepticism from some Republicans.
Protesters assembled outside the White House while attendees filled fan zones around the venue, highlighting the divided reactions to the unusual sporting event at the presidential residence.
First Lady Melania Trump sat beside the President throughout the evening, while Barron Trump was seated behind them.
Several members of Trump's immediate family were also present ringside, including Donald Trump Jr. and his wife Bettina Trump, Eric Trump and Lara Trump, Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, and Tiffany Trump with her husband Michael Boulos. A number of Trump's grandchildren also attended the event.
Following the conclusion of the third fight, members of the crowd sang "Happy Birthday" to President Donald Trump.
CNN reported that Trump's family is also promoting a new coin venture tied to the anniversary celebrations.

The Unravelling of an Alliance
The "Freedom 250"-themed silver and gold medallions feature Trump's likeness and are being marketed as a collaboration involving the UFC and the Trump Organization, which is managed by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.
The coins are being sold through a website that describes them as "Trump Coins" and states they were "designed by President Trump."
Four versions are reportedly available, ranging from a silver coin costing nearly USD 250 to a gold medallion priced at USD 11,999.99. Purchasers of the premium version also receive a portrait featuring Trump and UFC president Dana White.
CNN noted that the Trump Organization appears to be licensing the Trump brand for the venture rather than directly manufacturing or selling the coins.
Following the White House event, Trump is scheduled to travel to France for the G7 Summit in Evian. Leaders from major economies are expected to discuss a range of global issues, including ongoing geopolitical developments.
