IDF Says It Killed Hamas Operative Linked to 2025 Attack That Killed 4 Israeli Tank Crew Soldiers

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said on Wednesday that it had killed Musa Abd Muhammad Hamouda, a member of Hamas’s Nukhba unit in Gaza City, whom it accuses of involvement in a 2025 explosive device attack that killed four Israeli tank crew soldiers of the 52nd Battalion.
In a post on X, the military described Hamouda as a member of Hamas’s military wing and said he took part in the attack that killed Lieutenant Matan Abramovitz, Sergeant Amit Aryeh Regev, Staff Sergeant Uri Lemad and Sergeant Gadi Cotal.
The IDF alleged that Hamouda also “advanced terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops” and worked to restore Hamas’s military capabilities, in what it called “systematic violation of the ceasefire.” It said he was killed “to remove the threat that he posed.” The announcement does not say when or how he was killed, and Hamas has not responded in the reports so far.

A PATTERN OF STRIKES DURING CEASEFIRE
The announcement follows other Israeli operations against people the IDF accuses of targeting its forces and rebuilding Hamas’s operational strength during the ceasefire.
On October 5, the IDF said it had killed two individuals linked to Hamas in separate strikes in the Khan Younis area. It named one as Muad Gamal Abu Nuseira, a commander in Hamas’s military wing, who it said was hit on Sunday.
It named the other as Mahmoud Ibrahim Dib Alyan, a member of Hamas’s observation unit, killed in a strike on Saturday. The military said Alyan had been working against Israeli troops near the Yellow Line.
The IDF said it took steps to limit harm to civilians, including precision munitions and aerial surveillance, and that troops under its Southern Command remain deployed in the area in line with the agreement and will keep acting against what it calls immediate threats.
In a further announcement, the IDF said it had killed Saqr Nabil Musa Qaisi, whom it described as a Nukhba operative involved in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. The military alleged that Qaisi also held a leadership role in the Turkish organisation Deniz Feneri and used that position to provide financial support to Hamas operatives.
The IDF has repeatedly accused Hamas members of using ceasefire periods to rebuild their military capabilities and plan attacks.
