Dream Run 2 • Just Say It • For a New Hippocratic Oath
If unit members on the sets of Desi Boyz can be trusted, the production is having a hard time dealing with starry tantrums these days. The prima donna on the sets isn’t Akshay Kumar or John Abraham, we hear, but the gorgeous Chitrangada Singh, who stars opposite the Khiladi star. Our sources say the actress is terrific at her job and looks a million bucks, but has an attitude that’s getting on everyone’s nerves.
Chitrangada has gone straight from Desi Boyz to another comedy, one she’s shooting with John Abraham currently. No complaints from that set, although insiders say her recently single co-star seems completely smitten by her. Next up, she will start filming Krrish 3 with Hrithik Roshan in which she’s one of two heroines, the other being Priyanka Chopra. There’s also possibly a pivotal role in Race 2 alongside Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha.
Few in Bollywood expected Chitrangada to land on her feet after that long sabbatical after her debut in Sudhir Mishra’s Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi. Few thought she’d have a shot at mainstream movies after cutting her teeth on such artsy films as Hazaaron…, Sorry Bhai and Yeh Saali Zindagi. But lady luck seems to have smiled on the dusky headstopper who appears to have resolved prickly issues at home (her husband, golfer Jyoti Randhawa, had rumouredly barred her from making movies post Hazaaron…), and dived straight into a successful second innings.
There are murmurs that her mentor Sudhir Mishra isn’t thrilled about the fact that she won’t return his calls, and doesn’t seem to have the dates needed to do his next movie. Sadly, that’s the way the cookie crumbles in tinseltown.
Just Say It
Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma may never have publicly admitted that they’re seeing each other, but it’s hardly a secret in Bollywood. The couple arrive at and leave parties together, are reported to have shared a hotel suite in Goa while shooting for their new film, and allegedly encourage filmmakers to pair them when approached individually for new projects.
At the very well-attended Reddy wedding in Hyderabad last week, the couple performed to musical hits from their film Band Baaja Baaraat, and were introduced on stage by emcee Vivek Oberoi as “the hottest, hippest and most happening new couple in Bollywood”. Only a few weeks prior to that, they showed up together for Ranbir Kapoor’s house party, where Ranveer was apparently in very good spirits and only left the dance floor to refill his drink. His crazy dance moves (inspired by Michael Jackson’s famous moonwalk step) prompted fellow guest Karan Johar to remark cattily to Anushka: “You know you’re dating a treadmill, don’t you?”
The couple are currently shooting for Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, their follow-up to BBB, also directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Yash Raj Films. Word from the set is that Anushka has appointed her spies all around to ensure that Ranveer doesn’t get too chummy with his other female co-stars when she doesn’t have scenes with him.
For a New Hippocratic Oath
He is the NRI husband of a sexy Bollywood actress, and he has more or less shifted base to Mumbai now. According to the film industry grapevine, this twice-married gentleman has been making regular visits to a reputed hair-transplant clinic in London over the past few months in preparation for an impending hair-grafting surgery.
Over the course of these repeated visits to the clinic, it appears that the loaded businessman might have got a little too friendly with the doctor’s attractive female assistant. The doctor himself has been telling his other Bollywood clients that the gentleman proceeded to invite this hot firang assistant to a European holiday, from which she never returned to resume work.
Back home in Mumbai, he pretends to be a committed husband to his actress wife, and has also spoken about their desire to start a family soon. Perhaps he could start by having a word with his London doctor and begging him to stop repeating details of his escapades to everyone who walks through his door with a filmi connection.
