Virat Kohli became the first Indian to cross the 14,000-run mark in T20 cricket, reaching the milestone during his match-winning innings in Raipur. The landmark came in just 409 innings, making him the fastest ever to get there, surpassing Chris Gayle’s record of 423 innings.
Globally, only a handful of players—like Kieron Pollard, Alex Hales, David Warner, and Jos Buttler—sit above him on the all-time run charts.
Adding to the feat, Kohli struck his ninth IPL century, placing him among the elite T20 centurions. His consistency also saw him become the first Indian to register 10 T20 hundreds.
Chasing 193, Kohli anchored the innings with an unbeaten 105 off 60 balls, guiding RCB to a six-wicket win with five balls to spare. Coming into the game after two consecutive ducks, the innings was as much about temperament as it was about strokeplay.
Reflecting on his approach, Kohli said: "The celebration wasn't a big one because we know the importance of points. There's a reason why people say pressure is a privilege. Good pressure always makes you improve your game. you go a level up, you keep improving your game. I was nervous, I just wanted to get off the mark. My positions at the crease, not trying anything extravagant, find the gaps, staying in the present, I was able to back my game, risk-free cricket,"

Now all of India is in his thrall
He added: "All these factors were very pleasing for me. I just love batting. What an honour to be playing at this level. This is all I have done all my life. I want to make the most of everyday. You build your character,"
His restrained celebration—just a raised bat—reflected the stakes, as RCB climbed to the top of the points table.
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar was effusive in praise: "It feels great. You play well in the tournament and everyone came in the different stage and doing their job for the team. We are taking it one game and one step at a time. (On how he felt after the first innings) Very satisfied. After ten overs, the way we controlled their innings....to restrict them (for 192 after their start) is a good sign for us. (On Kohli) I don't have words, but he is used to doing great things,"
He added: "We have played good cricket. Two more league games, one game at a time. We are traveling to Dharamsala - good track to bat, and we will try to win. (On Salt's possible return) I don't know but he will come soon,"
On the other side, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane acknowledged Kohli’s threat in chases:
"Yes, and I mean, Virat, we all know that while chasing the total, he is a dangerous player. Anyway, he's a dangerous player, but Devdutt Padikkal is batting really well in this tournament. So, taking those catches, that's what really helped us in the last four matches. But these things have happened. The guys are working really hard, but you can drop catches. That's okay. (About Kartik Tyagi) He's been really good for us, working really hard. What I like about him is his clear mindset, what he wants to execute while bowling. And that's a really great sign,"
He further reflected: "I mean, we thought 190 was actually a competitive total on that wicket. The batters who batted in the middle, those middle overs, they thought it was a very good total. You can always say that after the game, 10-15 runs here and there, but I thought it was a very good effort by the batters."
