Mohamed Salah will bring an end to his nine-year association with Liverpool FC at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, the club confirmed in an official statement.
The 33-year-old Egyptian international, who has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances for the Premier League champions, has reportedly “reached an agreement” to leave Anfield this summer.
The announcement signals the end of a historic spell during which Salah established himself as one of the most prolific and decorated forwards in English football.
Salah said he chose to inform supporters at the earliest opportunity out of respect and gratitude.
"Unfortunately the day has come," Salah stated in an Instagram post released alongside a six-paragraph tribute from the club.
"I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club. It’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit. I can’t explain in words to anyone not part of this club,” he added.

The making of a summer thriller
Signed from AS Roma in 2017, the forward played a central role in a period of sustained success, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, two League Cups and the FA Community Shield.
Salah was initially part of a formidable attacking trio alongside Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino. He currently stands third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.
Liverpool described the winger as “one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history.”
With the season still ongoing, Salah remains focused on securing the best possible finish for the club, with formal celebrations of his legacy expected later in the year when he bids farewell to Anfield.
Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League standings with 14 wins, seven draws and 10 losses, accumulating 49 points, and sit 21 points behind leaders Arsenal FC.
The club are also preparing for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain on April 9, following a league fixture against Manchester City on April 4.
