Cristiano Ronaldo struck the 970th goal of his professional career as Al Nassr outclassed Al Ahli 2-0 in their Saudi Pro League fixture late on Wednesday night.
Ronaldo once again proved decisive as Al Nassr moved to the brink of the Saudi Pro League title.
After a goalless first half, the game came alive in the 76th minute when Cristiano opened the scoring for his side, with Kingsley Coman sealing the win with a 90th-minute strike.
The Portuguese captain rose highest to meet a pinpoint corner from João Félix before glancing a superb header beyond Édouard Mendy.
With this win, Al Nassr remains in a strong position to secure the Saudi Pro League title, sitting at the top of the points table with 26 wins, a draw and three losses for a total of 79 points.
Their distant rivals are Al Hilal, who have 21 wins and eight draws to reach 71 points.
Al Ahli had kept the league leaders at bay for much of the contest, but Ronaldo’s breakthrough finally broke their resistance.
