In yet another indication that the Trump administration will back India’s tough response to jihadi terrorism, FBI Director Kash Patel praised the efforts of law enforcement during the crisis. “Thank you to the men and women of law enforcement who answer the call in moments like these,” he said. This response is markedly different from the stance taken by regimes in the past. They were quick to issue advisories that literally amounted to handcuffing law enforcers.
This response is markedly different from the stance taken by previous Democratic administrations, which were quick to issue advisories that effectively handcuffed law enforcement.
Posting on social media platform X, Patel wrote, “The FBI sends our condolences to all the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir — and will continue offering our full support to the Indian government.” He added that the attack was “a reminder of the constant threats our world faces from the evils of terrorism.”
The United States’ solidarity with India in the battle against Islamic terrorism was further underscored by its spy chief, Tulsi Gabbard, on Friday. She described the Pahalgam massacre as a “horrific Islamic attack.” In a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gabbard said that the US stands in solidarity with India following the killing of 26 Hindus in Pahalgam. “My prayers and deepest sympathies are with those who lost a loved one, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and with all the people of India. We are with you and support you as you hunt down those responsible for this heinous attack,” she said.
US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce had also taken a firm stance when questioned by a Pakistani journalist about Indo-Pak border tensions, stating: “I am not going to be remarking on it… I will say nothing more on that situation. The President and the Secretary have made their positions clear.” Both President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have since condemned terrorism unequivocally and expressed strong solidarity with India.
