Razaullah Nizamani, also known as Abu Saifullah Khalid, a senior commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and one of India’s most wanted terrorists, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pakistan’s Sindh province on Sunday.
Saifullah was implicated in several major terrorist attacks in India, including the 2006 attempted attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur, the 2005 Indian Institute of Science (IISc) shooting in Bengaluru, and the 2001 attack on the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Rampur.
He was also identified as the mastermind behind the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 Indian and foreign tourists .
Saifullah operated as LeT’s chief handler in Nepal, facilitating cross-border movements and recruiting operatives for attacks in India.
His death is seen as a significant setback to LeT’s operational capabilities and a notable development in the ongoing efforts to counter terrorism in the region.
The circumstances surrounding his killing remain unclear, with investigations ongoing into the identity and motives of the assailants.
Indian officials have confirmed the report, highlighting the impact of his elimination on the destabilization of terrorist networks operating across borders.
The incident underscores the persistent challenges in addressing cross-border terrorism and the importance of international cooperation in dismantling such networks.
