Bangalore and Hyderabad may be the infotech hubs of India, but move over, both. Neither of these cities—nor for that matter the ‘Big 4’ metros—boast of a train station with Wi-Fi connectivity. Enter Mysore. Last week, the city’s railway station got Wi-Fi enabled. Mysoreans say it is in line with the influx of international tourists coming into the city as much as the rise in number of tech firms being set up in the historic town. Plus, being on the list of go-to places on the The New York Times list just offers requisite proof of its global status. This is arguably the first such facility launched in India under the public-private partnership model. It will allow net users to browse the net on two platforms at the station and provides connectivity to roughly 90 per cent of the station area. The facility is powered by Tomizone, a New Zealand-based company.
