According to Acting Chief Justice Madan B Lokur, who inaugurated the store, the initiative will help the products reach a larger section of people as well as aid the reform of prisoners. The outlet in the capital’s High Court is the first of several such planned stores, and is run by Jaspal Singh, a former Tihar inmate himself. Eventually, jail authorities hope to be in major court complexes across Delhi, like Patiala House, Tis Hazari, Dwarka, Karkardooma and Rohini. Their choice of location seemed appropriate as the courts have a steady stream of potential customers, including Tihar residents.
