Botswana’s leading female investigator Mma Ramotswe (the respectful reference in Botswanian society) has always been described as ‘traditionally built’. So evidently, she likes her grub. Now, a cookbook with traditional Botswanian recipes will be published, garnished with her stimulating reflections. The book is being penned by BBC journalist Stuart Brown with author McCall Smith’s blessings. “The recipes are full of the flavour and colours of Botswana and reflect the character of cooking in that country, the country Mma Ramotswe loves so much,” McCall Smith has said. He will also write the foreword. Brown collected the recipes when he was working for a charity in Africa. Dishes include traditional stew, fruit cakes and fat cakes (doughnuts).
