Finally, the mystery of  Amelia Earhart, the famous aviator who went missing 73 years ago, seems to be getting solved. Three bone fragments found on Nikumaroo, a deserted South Pacific island, are suspected to belong to her. They could reveal what happened to her after she went missing. The bone pieces are currently being tested for DNA; the findings will then be compared with samples donated by a member of her family. If the tests prove that the DNA indeed belongs to Earhart then they will put to rest speculation that she crashed into the sea after running out of fuel during her expedition over the Pacific. She may well have survived as a castaway on this tiny island.
