At a recent event to celebrate gender-sensitive media, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chauhan was uncomfortable with all the female attention he received. At the Laadli National Media Awards, singer Usha Uthup decided to woo him. Between renditions of Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive, Bindiya Chamkegi and her own Darrling (with lyrics modified to suit the message behind the awards), Uthup said, “Chief Minister sahib, I love you.” Sitara Devi, the kathak legend honoured for her achievements, dedicated serious airtime to describing how the CM avoided her.
