After all, they lapped up the attention when the Latin sex symbol first visited India in 1997—with Raveena Tandon sensuously clinging to Ricky on the cover of a magazine. Things went further with beauty queen Sushmita Sen, who was romantically linked to Ricky Martin at the time. The actress herself never denied the rumours, and even seemed to relish all the speculation. Indeed, whenever Sush was asked if she was indeed the inspiration behind the Puerto Rican pop singer’s huge hit Maria, she always laughed coyly in response. Today, Sush could plausibly explain that she was only trying to protect Ricky’s real sexual orientation. Maria might have well been Mario, don’t you think?
