You’ve heard of three-star policemen, but a six-star cricketer?
You’ve heard of three-star policemen, but a six-star cricketer? That’s what Chris Gayle has become, thanks to BNS Reddy, a DIG of the Karnataka police. Gayle, who’s with Bangalore’s IPL team, has taken his team from the brink of elimination to the Champions League final. The West Indian had been promised six stars if he took the Bangalore team to the final. “He has been eyeing the stars that policemen wear on their lapels for some time now,’’ says Reddy, who has known Gayle ever since he was in-charge of security at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and the team hotel in his earlier stint as deputy commissioner. “The last time he asked, I told him he would get them if he took RCB to the final. After the semifinals, Gayle sought me out and held me to the promise.’’ Reddy was ready with the stars, which the cricketer accepted gratefully as a souvenir he promised to cherish.
