National Geographic’s Food Journeys of a Lifetime is not so National Geographic.
Some things seem like they were deliberately designed for Christmas. National Geographic’s Food Journeys of a Lifetime is clearly one of them. What a crock. By that we mean a list of 500 Extraordinary Places to Eat Around the Globe, that is…totally unsurprising? Ben & Jerry’s ice-factory in Vermont, champagne bars and what to eat at the grand old Cipriani Hotel? That’s so not National Geographic, where you expect glimpses of the un-tasted and unseen. Sure there are stop-offs at street stalls in Singapore, Thailand and Japan’s Tsukiji market, but anyone even vaguely exploratory would already have notes on that. Buy this for inanities like where to ‘eat ice-cream on an exotic beach in India’. Order off amazon.com and await a rotten tomato.
