Safety Tips for CPM Cadres

Under vicious attack from Maoists, who have killed a couple of hundred CPM leaders and activists in Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia districts of Bengal over the past two years, the party leadership has issued guidelines for comrades. ‘Travel anywhere outside your villages only in groups,’ says the missive. Cadres have been asked to shift houses every night. They should, when possible, sleep at local party offices. They’ve also been asked to change the routes they take to their workplaces, among other directives.
