Indore, a city known for its food streets, vibrant education culture, and BJP introspection attempts, now has its first city magazine. On the face of it, Indore Beat has more than a passing resemblance with Time Out, the fortnightly that tells us what’s happening where with art, culture, entertainment and health. But this is where their subjects and motives diverge. The magazine’s convener, Surendra Singh Virhe, writes that his publication would also contain content on ‘bureaucracy, corporate, product and services, astro-vaastu, tarot-numero, concerns and relationships’. He adds, ‘We are covering almost everything except politics and crime.’
