Recruits at Yelahanka Armed Police Training School take to salsa. The male students are graceful, but shy as they lock arms and do the dance.
“Take your partner’s hand. Look into his eyes deeply, and turn,” come the instructions. The male students are graceful, but shy as they lock arms and do the Salsa. This is not what the police recruits had expected when they entered Yelahanka Armed Police Training School. “Even in my wildest dreams, I never thought dancing would be taught during police training,” says Kumar, a recruit. “It’s a stress buster,” defends an APTS instructor, “ They will be physically fit.’’ Though initially aghast at the idea, it gained currency after dance teacher Daniel offered to train a batch for a week. And now, he’s been invited to teach recruits in a Belgaum school.
