Mizoram is going in for a lung rehabilitation programme.
Mizoram is going in for a lung rehabilitation programme. A state where 55 per cent of the population smokes tobacco is now on its way to becoming a smoke-free zone. According to a recent survey by the Mizoram State Tobacco Control Society, nearly 84.2 per cent smokers admitted to tobacco consumption making a huge dent in their finances. Another 73.1 per cent wanted to quit because of their increasing awareness about the harmful effects of smoking. The state government is trying to use this anti-tobacco sentiment to enforce the Control of Tobacco Products Act in Mizoram.
