Mullah Nasruddin’s Donkey

A neighbour who Mullah Nasruddin didn’t like came to his compound one day. He asked Nasruddin if he could borrow his donkey. Nasruddin, not wanting to lend his donkey, told him, “I would love to loan you my donkey but only yesterday my brother took it away to carry his wheat to the mill. The donkey is not here.” As the neighbour began to walk away, Nasruddin’s donkey, which was at the back of his compound, let out a big bray.
