Compulsive Indo-Pak peaceniks will love this. Five years ago, when Karachi-based couple Akbar and Mubbasarin came to India to visit relatives in UP’s Moradabad, Mubbasarin gave birth to a baby girl who was promptly named Mother India by her overjoyous father. Recently, when the girl was admitted to a school in Karachi, her father stuck with his original choice. So it goes that Mother India, whose father refuses to change her moniker, has charmed her neighbourhood in a way her namesake hasn’t managed to in over 60 years.
