Keira Bends It Again

London theatre owners have been studying the phenomenal success of a play that marks the stage debut of Keira Knightley.

Theatre owners in London have been studying how the play The Misanthrope, marking the stage debut of Keira Knightley, managed to take nearly £ 1 million in just four days, which is a phenomenal amount for a straight play. Big-budget musicals have made the same amount in 24 hours, but not before the product had been advertised heavily via newspapers, magazines, radio, TV and the Internet. That Keira is part of an ensemble cast led by Damian Lewis (in the title role) was revealed exclusively in a London daily newspaper. It was followed up around the world the next morning, but there were no ads anywhere and only very recently did some of the cast meet to shoot an official poster for the play. The box-office tally took ATG, owners of Comedy Theatre, by surprise. Is it Keira’s talent or simply a stroke of luck is a question begging for an answer. But anyway, it’s all good for Keira.
